FAQs

Mercateo works with all levels of the supply chain. Our suppliers include distributors, importers, wholesalers, specialist suppliers and manufacturers. Suppliers are selected according to certain criteria and requirements.

Business customers buy at Mercateo. Companies of all sizes and in all sectors rely on Mercateo to meet their procurement needs and use our e-procurement solutions. Private consumers aren’t allowed to use Mercateo.

You can sell items that are relevant to the business market. Mercateo expects its suppliers to advertise their products accurately, and also to comply with Mercateo’s article requirements.

The following products may not be sold on Mercateo:
Medicines
Weapons and ammunition
Plant protection products
Substances that may only be handled by qualified personnel (including biocidal products)
For more information, see Labelling based on the GHS (Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals)

As a supplier, you tell Mercateo the wholesale price of each item. To calculate the sales price for customers, a margin is added to the wholesale price. If you like, you can request a price report for a fee. You can then respond to the price level and price elasticity of each item by adjusting the price for Mercateo, allowing you to control your competitiveness.

Mercateo passes on its suppliers’ shipping costs to its customers without adding commission. Shipping costs are based on order value rather than weight.

EANs (European Article Numbers) should always be included in your catalogue if they have been assigned by the manufacturer. Remember, customers sometimes search for items by entering the EAN. If an EAN hasn’t been assigned by the manufacturer, please get in touch with our supplier management team.

Your product range can be expanded by updating your catalogue. Please contact your supplier manager.
