It will self-rupture so can stand up to the high pressure developed during short-circuiting. With a gG rating (general purpose), its efficient, taking between two to five seconds at five times the rated current to blow, and between 0.1 to 0.2 seconds at ten times the rated current. Engineers have stringently tested this British standard fuse to ensure durability and consistency.
