RS PRO Male DVI-D to Male DVI-D Cable, 1m The DVI-D male to male DVI-D cable from our trusted and reliable own brand RS PRO provides a fast digital connection to your monitor, whilst producing high quality digital images directly from the video source such as graphic card or motherboard. The connectors on the RS PRO male to male DVI-D cable are made with a highly durable gold plated covering that is corrosion resistant, ensuring a high quality connection every time. As the DVI-D is a dual link cable, it is capable of achieving much higher resolutions as all the pins are connected, unlike single link cables where only a selection of pins connect. Features and Benefits • DVI-D connector type • Dual link cable, allowing much higher resolutions to be achieved • Fast and high quality digital images direct from graphics card • Durable black sheath • Male to male connection DVI Gender Male to male dual link Typical Applications • Digital transmission between graphics card and digital monitor • Computer monitors • Notebooks • Digital video equipment • PC and TV display What is DVI? DVI stands for Digital Video Interface. DVI is a form of digital technology connection used to display high quality images from modern graphics cards and is widely used with computer monitors and LCD screens. What are the different types of DVI cables? • DVI-A – carries an analogue signal and can support VGA signals via adapters but will not support HDMI • DVI-D – carries a direct digital signal without converting to analog • DVI-I – capable of carrying either a digital or analog signal How does a DVI-D cable work? DVI-D cables work by eliminating the process of converting the digital signal from a video card to analog and back again. By providing a direct link from video card to monitor, a much quicker connection is established that is capable of producing high quality images. What is the difference between single and dual link? Although the two are similar in the sense they can display high quality digital images, HDMI cables have become the standard cable for use with modern tvs as they can also carry sound, making them an ideal all in one cable. DVI cables, on the other hand, are more suited to displaying high quality digital images on an LCD screen or computer monitor and can also be connected to an HDMI port via a digital converter, making them highly versatile.
