RS PRO Non-Contact Voltage Detector Introducing the RS PRO volt stick, a highly reliable non-contact voltage detector perfect for testing live wires and conductors without coming into contact with them. This durable non-contact detector features a green LED light to indicate power is on and a red LED with beeper indicating a live voltage has been detected. This volt stick also features a high voltage mode using a green LED and a low voltage mode with a yellow LED, offering a more versatile non-contact voltage tester. The RS PRO non-contact voltage detector is operated by two AAA 1.5 V batteries and features an IP67 rating, allowing the volt stick to be used on the job in a range of environments. Features and Benefits: • High power rear flashlight • Thinner probe tip ideal for working with wall outlets and tight spaces • Green LED indicating power on, flashing red LED with beeper means live voltage detected • Low battery self-test & auto power off, ensuring a longer battery life • Two modes, green means high voltage mode, yellow means low voltage mode • Forward facing flashlight • Flash and Beep rate increase as the detector gets closer to the voltage source helping the user pinpoint live circuits • Power ON/OFF switch & Silent Mode • Pocket clip for easy storage • IP67 rating ensuring protection from liquids • 2m drop-proof Applications: Non-contact voltage testers are an essential device used to detect a live voltage in wires and conductors safely without coming into contact with them. Volt sticks can be used in almost any environment by anyone, either at home for renovations or by an electrical engineer on a worksite. What is a non-contact voltage tester used for? Voltage testers or detectors are used to check the flow of current through a circuit. They can be used to check safety, or to ensure equipment is functioning correctly. They can also test for the current strength, whether the circuit is grounded correctly or to ensure no current is flowing at all so that work can be begin on the circuit. How do non-contact voltage testers work? Also known as a voltage detector, volt stick, voltage tester pens, sensors or test pens. They allow the user to test electrical conductors without touching them. Non-contact testers are the safest and easiest way to detect electric fields or voltage. Voltage testers utilise what is called capacitive coupling, the user holding the instrument provides a ground reference. The tester then detects changing electric field around the object or objects conducting an AC current. (Alternating current) Simply put, the user and the tester pen when near the electrical conductor will cause a small current to flow through the tester from the source, this is how it detects AC voltage.
